Baggles and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Weekend

Well this past weekend was just freaking awful for me and my two sports teams. The Redskins get destroyed by God (a.k.a. Tom Brady) and the Rockies get swept in the World Series.

Okay so the Rockies aren't really my team. But I couldn't help but like them after their pretty much unprecedented winning streak. They could've at least won one game in the Series. It was just too easy for the Red Sox. If there is any comfort for me in this it is that the Sox didn't have to try very hard to win. It was not a dramatic or competitive World Series. No real baseball fan wants such a short, straightforward sweep in the World freaking Series. We want drama and competition and unpredictability! But it is what it is and what it is sucks ass.

Now while I knew the Redskins were going to lose I thought they might at least put up a fight. I could not help but laugh when I turned the game on late in the 4th quarter and it was 52-0. Tom Brady is inhuman. He does not belong on Earth. Heaven is missing their starting quarterback. Get it yet?

The Redskins didn't really help themselves out by playing awful football. I mean just damn terrible. All I can do now is pray that they recover from this obliteration and kick the Jets square in the nuts. I am getting Goddamn tired of waiting for the Redskins to be a consistently good and competitive team. They have the talent. So what the Hell is going on?!?!

Right as Rain

New England Patriots 48
Dallas Cowboys 27

Well, just like I've been saying all season long, the Cowboys finally played a real football team and they got beaten. I would say they had their asses handed to them except for the fact that the game was close in the 3rd quarter. Hell, the Cowboys were even leading for like...a whole minute. But for now Tom Brady and the Patriots are unstoppable. They'll be damned if they're going to let an overhyped little punk like Romo beat them. The Cowboys can look good against the reject teams of the NFL (except, of course, for the Bills) but even my wishy washy Redskins could beat everyone the Cowboys have.

I hope Sunday's game has finally set everyone straight. Now people can stop their bitching about the Patriot's wins being unimpressive. They are (and have been all season) for real. Now people can realize that Romo isn't nearly as amazing as they thought. Sunday was the first true test of his skill and he failed. Tom Brady rules so hard at putting people in their places.

Tony Romo is Rex Grossman

Date of Game: 10/8/07
Final Score: Dallas Cowboys 25
Buffalo Bills 24

Factors That Contributed to the Cowboys Victory Over the Bills
-the Bills offense is completely impotent (they scored a grand total of 3 points while the defense scored the other 21)
-apparently 53 yard field goals are no longer nigh impossible
-the perseverance of the other 10 Cowboys on the field to redeem someone's mistakes and pull out a victory
-luck (and lots of it)

Factors That Contributed Nothing
-Tony Romo

Seriously, the guy throws 5 interceptions in a game and everyone praises him? What the Hell is that all about? I don't see people waiting in line to plant their lips on Rex Grossman's ass. He had almost the exact same performance and he got benched. What pisses me off more is all the reporters siding with Dallas in their upcoming game against the Patriots. Tony Romo "overcame" his terrible performance and the Patriots undefeated season consists of "unimpressive wins". Who the Hell have the Cowboys beaten? Let's go over the list.

Game 1: New York Giants
Game2: Miami Dolphins
Game 3: Chicago Bears
Game 4: St. Louis Rams
Game 5: Buffalo Bills

Nope. No real football teams there. Nothing impressive about any of the Cowboys wins. Let's completely ignore the fact that - except for a huge dose of luck - they nearly lost to the Bills. Yes, the Bears went to the Super Bowl last year but they are just awful this year. But let's take a look at the Patriots' wins.

Game 1: New York Jets
Game 2: San Diego Chargers
Game 3: Buffalo Bills
Game 4: Cincinnati Bengals
Game 5: Cleveland Browns

Two of those 5 teams (Chargers and Bengals) were legitimate Super Bowl contenders last year. Granted the Chargers and Bengals have gone downhill this year. But the Patriots have crushed every team they have played (by 17 or more points). They haven't scraped out any wins like the Cowboys had to do.

Tony Romo didn't overcome anything or show impressive stuff on Monday. He looked like shit (a.k.a. Rex Grossman). The Cowboys haven't proven anything. They haven't played any real teams. The only way they could impress me is if they beat the Patriots on Sunday. And I seriously don't see that happening. At least not with everyone telling Tony Romo it's ok to give the other team the ball.

Intro to The Blog

Welcome to The Baggles Blog. I've been inspired to start this blog to fight back against all the stupid shit that pervades the mainstream. This blog is not a journal. I'm not going to regale tales of my everyday life. It is an opinion piece, if you will. That means that since these are my opinions you cannot contradict or challenge them.

I'm here to write what I want to write. If you don't like it then find something else to keep you occupied. Or - like my uncle and myself when we listen to The Herd with Colin Cowherd - read it because you despise it so. That's what makes it entertaining.
